Oliver to Christina Lake BC.

We left Oliver after a 5 week stay turned south on highway 97 to Osoyoos and then onto highway 3 heading east. Lovely sunny warm morning when we left but as we travelled east we seamed to leave the sun behind, as we drove into cloud.

The first two pics. looking back at Osoyoos Lake as we drove up Osoyoos Mountain.

Into The Kootenay now and the sky changing.

Old ranch house and barn.
Cascade Cove, interesting industrial history here. this is the mouth of the Cascades a long gorge on the Kettle River. This photo taken from The Cascade RV Park.

Looking down onto the cove, the power house was situated on the concrete slab. Downloaded the Old black & white photo from Wikipedia, taken in 1910. The bridge has been replaced, it carries highway 395 to Spokane. Washington.

Looking Up the Cascade Gorge from the bridge.

This is where the Kettle River begins its decent down the gorge and then into Washington State where it joins up with The Columbia River just above The Grand Coulee Dam.

Lake Christina, on a very cloudy day.

Pity such a poor day, but very impressive scenery non the less
Tomorrow we will continue our journey east along highway 3.
