In & around Penticton BC.

The changeable weather we have been having over the last couple of weeks seams to have moved away, and for the last few days we have had some lovely spring weather, today the temperature reached 27c.    Yesterday we went to Penticton just a few kilometres up the road from Oliver.
At Okanagan Falls we left Highway 97 and went up Lakeside Drive, this road goes up the east side of Skaha Lake to Penticton.

Two views of Skaha Lake, the first from OK Falls looking north towards Penticton and the second looking west across the lake around the halfway point. The lake is 12km long by 2km wide.

The north beach at Penticton, the lake here is The Okanagan a much bigger Lake 135km long and between 4 & 5km wide.

The SS Sicamous one of the old paddle steamers that chugged up and down the lake in the days before the roads where built.

This is the CN#6 Tug its job was pulling barges loaded with fruit to the railhead at Vernon. Younger than me built in 1947.

This Tugs a bit older than #6, coal fired steam engine, what a beauty.

A view of the northern beach looking east.

Map of Penticton, situated between the two lakes

Back down to the southern beach looking south towards Okanagan Falls.

The promenade along side the lake.

This is a very fancy sundial, and it works, Ruth did the standing on the date with here hands above her head (much to the amusement of the passers by) and it showed the right time!

wind surfing, must have been cold on the water.   Back down the highway to OK Falls and then Oliver after a bit of shopping.
