Remembrance Day & A Hike up Mill Hill, Victoria.

Remembrance Day, The Memorial at Langford a suburb of Victoria. After the laying of the wreaths some thing happened which I have never seen before, lots of people came up to the wreaths and pinned their poppies on them. I thought that was a wonderful thing to do.

A hike up Mill Hill on The Auburn Trail, this turned out to be a real workout. The Summit 200 meters high and
just about straight up, I was puffing and blowing when we got to the top and to make matters worse we where passed by people jogging up and down. Ooh to be young and fit!

Looking up, doesn't look very steep!

Looking back down the trail.

Looking across the straight to Olympia Mountains, this photo was taken around midday, unusual light.
Esquimalt Harbour with Victoria in the background.

The Calypso Trail down from the summit.  We thought this would be the easy way down, we were wrong, it was a crazy scramble down over rocks, between rocks, along what will be streams when it rains, very interesting but we made it with our knees a bit wobbly when we got to the bottom.

A very unusually shaped tree, looks like some prehistoric animal with a long neck.

I find all the stuff lying on the forest floor very interesting, lots of different shapes and colours.
