A walk in the desert.

Yesterday and again today we set off straight after breakfast for a walk in the desert behind Valley Vista RV Park.  This is the trail we have to follow for about half a klm. go through a gate and trails spread off in every direction.
Crossing the San Pedro River, not a drop of water in sight.

A Bendire's Thrasher, our first sighting of this bird.
One little shower and my flowers will burst out properly

Me too.
Today we are going to walk to the water tower on the hill, its about a 20 minute walk.

At the water tower looking southwest, the trail on top of the ridge is our planned walk.
The first of many cairns we came across.

A nice view of the Arizona Desert.
Another cairn
And another,  it makes for a more interesting walk coming across things like his.

Walking along the top of the ridge, we have slowly swung round and are now walking north back to the park. Benson is in the distance over on the right side of the photo, towards the top.
Looking back the way we have come? it was quite a walk, a bit scary at times.
Back on the valley floor, and mixed up with these fellas.
Once more wading across the San Pedro River
and a pleasant stroll back to the park.  Best walk for quite awhile, just short of two hours, next a swim.
