Sacramento to Desert Hot Springs.

Here we are in Desert Hot Springs, after a 3 day (3 half days of driving, start early and stop by lunch time) drive. Our first day took us to Kingsburg down highway 99, is this the worst road in California? the surface was a disgrace, going through Stockton was as bad as anything we came across in Alaska and The Yukon. One of our jobs tomorrow will be replacing the broken crockery, we lost half of our stuff on that stretch of road. The Kingsburg stop was a bit on the noisy side lots of freight trains running through town.  Yesterday we went from Kingsburg to Mohave down 99 and then across to Mohave on Highway 58. the dreadful surface continued through Bakersfield where we lost my favorite beer glass and some more crockery.  Ruth was beside herself, she had packed every thing up in towels and dusters, she evan pinched some of my t-shirts but to no avail, the California roads won again.
The weather had changed by the time we reached Mohave warm and sunny and clear blue skies.
On highway we drove over the Tehachapi Pass at 4064 feet which was where the weather changed, quite a dramatic pass no snowlike the Siskiyou but just as impressive. Today we continued on the 58 to Barstow and then the 247 and the 62 into Desert Hot Springs on this road we went over another pass at over 4100 feet between Barstow and Lucerne Valley no idea what it was called, took us a bit by surprise no mention on the map we have or our GPS.
The hills behind Mohave.

Looking across highway 14 to the wind farm East of Mohave. This little chap kept us company at the RV stop in Mohave.
