A little history, culture and something really exciting.

Yesterday we began our tour of Sacramento by visiting the Wells Fargo building on Capitol Mall,  in the foyer they have a little museum to do with all things Wells Fargo. A Stage Coach takes centre stage surrounded by exhibits of scales to weigh the gold brought in by the miners, the special shortened guns used by the driver and guard on the stages, instructions to the the paying public on how to survive ridding their coaches, strong boxes used to carry money and gold, and lots of other stuff.
It only takes about 20 minuets to look round everything but well worth it, one of the best little museums we have ever visited.

This unusual fountain outside another office building on the Mall.

Our next visit was The Crocker Art Gallery. Not allowed to put photos on the blog I'm afraid, just slip one in of what it looks like inside.

The top floor is given over to modern American Art. Ruth and I are not fans of modern art but this place has a wonderful selection some really great creations not all of it paintings.  Seeing stuff as good as this changes your perception of "modern art" The photo is of part of the second floor where the traditional stuff is shown.
The restaurant/cafe here is very good also, we had a very enjoyable lunch there.
That was enough for the day and we returned to the trailer to rest our (my) weary feet. a very enjoyable first day in Sacramento.

Today we went on a really interesting visit The California Auto Museum, just a couple of pics, maybe it will warrant a posting of its own later.
A Pierce-Arrow what a wonderful old motor.

Ruth was very happy when she spotted this Morris 1000, her first car, evan the same cream colour though hers had tan upholstery not red.

What about this cracker a late fifties Studebaker. Lots and lots more.
