Ottawa (at last)

We arrived at Ottawa airport around 8pm Tuesday 23/04/13 after a12day trip covering France, the UK back to Paris and then onwards to Montreal. More of that trip at a later date. First thing Wednesday morning we set off on our hunt for a fifth wheel. At the second dealer we visited we struck lucky and found a fifth wheel that we liked a Jayco Eagle 275RKS. Then the sales manager gets on the phone and starts calling everybody and his uncle and comes up with a truck to pull the Eagle, a F150 the salesman whisks us off to the Ford dealer we drive back to the rv place and then fun and games, a burning smell in the building the pompiers sorry firemen arrive- - flashing lights sirens etc all very exciting we retire to a huge Winnibago to get out of the way and through all of this sort out the fitting of the fifth wheel hitch servicing the truck all the stuff for the trailer, what a fantastic service nothing like that exist in Europe, everybody would have gone home and we would have been told to come back a week later after the staff had all had trauma counciling. We are very happy, pockets are empty and it will have to be beer not wine but what the heck you only live once.

A break from packing

Our friends Jill and Francois with us this weekend which has given us a welcome relief from packing and putting away stuff for our upcoming trip to Canada.
Today we thought a trip up the mountain behind our house would be a good day out. The top is around 1130 meters high we only got as far as the first parking place, about 700 meters when we reached the snow. Just around this corner the road was packed snow, no good for our Honda with low profile tyres.
A bit of mountain sun and air, back down the mountain for an early lunch, baguette, pâté, fromage and a bottle of Rioja.
Gotta make the best of a bad job - - snow in April in the South of France.   Must be something to do with this climate change thing.
