The Little Qualicum River Falls.

A foggy morning, no hurry to go off exploring. Managed to FaceTime all my kids and grandchildren back in France which is quite a project as they are scattered around.

 

After chatting with mes enfants and grand kids, we ventured out into the mist and luckily after a few kilometers we drove into sunshine and blue skies.  The trail leading down to the lower falls on The Little Qualicum River.

The noise of the water crashing over the rocks is quite something and the spray reaches as high as the bridge.

A couple of hundred meters later the river goes mad as it drops over the rocks, not sure on the exact drop but it was quite a walk up.

 

You can walk back to the lower falls on the opposite side of the river after crossing the middle bridge but we opted to take the easy trail back.   There is a third bridge where the river leaves the lake but we decided we had seen enough for one day.

Buttertubs Marsh. Nanaimo.

A gentle day today, an easy walk around the wetlands of Buttercup Marsh, sunny and warm around 16/17c. perfect for a walk with lots of stops to look over the wetlands.

Not sure if this is a Song Sparrow or Fox Sparrow. I'm sure one of my Alsacien birdy buddies Francois and Bernard will enlighten me.

 

This is the Buttertubs Trail as it winds its way round the lake.

Tomorrow Thursday we will be moving a short distance north to Qualicum Bay.

Eagle's Bluff, Nanaimo.

 

We are now back in Nanaimo at The Living Forest RV Park, this has got to be one of the best  campgrounds we have stayed at, big sites,big trees the only downer you have to pay extra for wifi, don't mind that if its a cheap site but find it a bit much when you are paying over $30.
